The Creations

creation

Three wines appear amongst the rich selection suggested by Cédric Flaction to which the oenologist devotes overflowing passion. They are three creations, the vintages with which his adventure started, wines with tertiary flavours that age well. The wines made by blending together more than one type of grape reflect his passion, his tastes, and his philosophy of wine whilst showing the fabulous potential of his best plots of land situated on the hillsides of shiny schists of the Molignon and Batassé's moraine glaciers.

Cédric Flaction's three creations have been christened with patois names, to help us remember that wine is above all a product of the land. To pay tribute to the men who erected the vineyard's dry-stone walls, so typical of a vineyard in the Valais, it affixed to them an anonymous stone-cutter's signature who helped build a French cathedral. As nothing is too good for his cask aged "table wine", Cédric Flaction sells them in wooden crates.

Torpâ

The name means "sunburnt". This dry white wine is made by blending together marsanne blanche (ermitage) and païen (savagnin blanc) intended to go with gastronomic meals. Deep yellow in colour, this wine is full bodied and rich whilst being refreshing due to a splendid acidity. This wine keeps well, but can also be appreciated young when the citrus fragrances are balanced by a fine hint of pepper.

Lo Grafion

In the patois spoken in Valais, Lo Grafion means "black cherry". It owes its name to its expressive colour obtained by blending together merlot and tempranillo, the latter being imported directly from Spain. Cédric Flaction is particularly attached to this atypical wine, achieved in collaboration with a friend wine maker from Germany who is sadly no longer with us. Lo Grafion is a warm wine, with complex flavours, oscillating between black berries, the black cherry, spices, black chocolate and aromatic herbs. A "different" wine with a tight tannin firm yet well coated.

Lo Terôn

Lo Teron is a very original dessert wine made by blending together white marsanne and overripe païen grapes. Despite the high sugar contente, it is far from ressembling the usual valaisan wines made from overripe grapes, which are well known for their unctuousness close to liqueur. Païen is known for its liveliness. This wine has pineapple, apricot and lime flavours, and is pleasantly refreshing thanks to its acidity.
