Cédric Flaction

Cédric Flaction is an oenologist who reflects his wine's image : warm, original and without concession. One would think he was from the south as he comes across as voluble and fascinating. He has thrown himself down the path that he has carefully decided to follow with overflowing energy and great self confidence, but also with unpitying judgement, being sometimes severe about his own work.

Cédric Flaction has been haunting the depths of cellars since his tender youth. He accompanied his master wine merchant and cellar man of a father, and assisted him when possible. Not surprising then, that he chose to follow in his footsteps by opting to do an apprenticeship as a cellar man in a big wine cellar in Sierre. With his qualification in his hand, he decided to get some experience further a field. He found himself in various cellars in Tessin and then in the German speaking part of Switzerland, in the Schaffhausen area.

His hunger to learn forced him further his knowledge in his chosen field. He opted for the Changins Engineer School where he left three years later as an oenologist engineer. Freshly qualified, he succumbs to the sirens of Schaffhausern and the Rhine Waterfalls, by accepting a position as technical director in a big cellar in Wichingen. He stayed there for five years before coming back to the Valais to work in the Imesch cellars in Sierre where he worked as an oenologist.

In 2001 he made his first barrel fermented wine to mark the birth of his son, and the following year that of his daughter. Since then, he works part-time to elaborate his own wine. While he originally only proposed three wines, he wanted to create a complete range, he rented vineyards and since 2003 has found himself self employed under the sign of the Stone Cellar, located next to the cantonal road between Sion and Uvrier.
